ABSTRACT
The Requiem Series
I believe the natural world is connected to the spiritual world. Birds represent the ability to navigate both land and sky making them powerful beings. Requiem 1 shows a crow’s wing. Requiem 2 shows an owl’s feather. By flying over the earth’s surface, they can see what we cannot. Birds can see from a perspective that humans can only see by flying with the help of aircraft. The bare trees represent our mortality on earth as we’re simply visitors on this material plane. The red orb in each painting signifies transcendence to the spiritual plane as it floats upwards to the heavens. Requiem 3 conveys the final assent of all living beings to a greater consciousness and rebirth in the spiritual plane.
